OLD LYME, CT — JANUARY 24, 2014 — The France Foundation, the American College of Chest Physicians and the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) are working together on an initiative to educate respirologists/pulmonologists, pathologists, and oncologists in Europe on the optimal diagnosis and treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). This continuing medical education initiative titled GAIN Europe (EnGAging an Interdisciplinary Team for NSCLC Diagnosis, Personalized Assessment, and Treatment) will be conducted across Europe in 2014.
This collaborative initiative will optimize the combined expertise of The France Foundation (in continuing medical education and project management/implementation), the American College of Chest Physicians (in pulmonary diseases), and the ASCP (in clinical pathology). This educational activity is designed to improve the knowledge, competence, and performance of multiple specialists in several disciplines that diagnose and manage patients with NSCLC.
About GAIN Europe
After North America, Europe has the highest incidence and mortality rates for lung cancer. The provision of an educational grant provided by Pfizer will allow this educational project to extend into several European countries and provide a means for addressing documented knowledge and communication challenges among European clinicians who diagnose and manage patients with NSCLC. GAIN Europe is an extension of an educational series addressing similar needs in the US that was implemented with great success in the United States.
