The France Foundation (TFF), in collaboration with the American Thoracic Society (ATS) and American Academy of Physician Associates (AAPA), is thrilled to announce the launch of an educational program for physicians, physician associates, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, and nurses seeing patients in pulmonology and adult primary care practices: “The C.O.R.E. Collaborative—Conserving the Health of Older Adults Through RSV Education.”
Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) is a highly contagious seasonal lower respiratory tract infection characterized by cough, runny nose, sneezing, wheezing, sore throat, fatigue, decreased appetite, and fever. It affects both children and adults, with an estimated 2.1 million outpatient visits per year in the United States. In the United States alone, RSV leads to 177,000 hospitalizations and 14,000 deaths per year for adults over the age of 65.
Clinicians will learn about the impact of RSV in adults from expert faculty Kelly Gebo, MD, MPH, FACP; Sara McQueen, PA-C; Justin R. Ortiz, MD, MS; Pamela Rockwell, DO, FAAFP; and Charles Vega, MD, FAAFP. Together, they lead three activities designed to enhance learners’ understanding of RSV’s prevalence, incidence rates, and disease burden with a focus on preventing hospitalizations, comorbidities, and related health disparities.

Collaborating with ATS—the world’s leading medical society dedicated to accelerating the advancement of global respiratory health—and AAPA—an unparalleled advocate and educator on behalf of physician associates and the patients they serve—was key in developing this program. Their combined expertise and commitment to supporting multidisciplinary approaches to improving patient care is at the core of this education. It’s our privilege to work alongside them on this program and contribute to RSV prevention and management.
